Yo, Rob here again.
So yesterday I sat down to have an inital listen to the other night’s recordings. Pretty happy with the work we did and the show we put on. Ahead lay the task of separating the audio tracks from the night, cleaning them up to mix them into the final product. This is something I have always enjoyed doing and after producing various music over the years the appeal never seems to die. Spending probably 8 hours in total the tracks came together pretty well considering the limited gear we were using for recording on the night. The kick drum sound and the guitar needed the most work but came out well in the end. It’s sounding fairly tight and yet captures the feeling of the venue and the crowd so i’m pleased. Hope you all enjoy the final video :o)…

Jay here. As all the other guys have put a post up concerning our gig, I thought I’d better do one as well. Now that’s out of the way, I’m gonna check out the rest of the photos.
I did say I was lazy.
Peace Y’all
P.S. - Keep your ears and eyes firmly fixed on this space because there should be audio and video of our gig popping up here real soon.

Hello all, I thought since Rob and Ben had written posts, that I might as well shed some light on what happened when Ben and I collected the speakers. Once we got to Jay’s parents house and started setting up, Ben and I decided to go back to my house to collect my party speakers which both have 15″ woofers
. I grabbed the first speaker and moved it back to clean out some of the leaves and stuff and Ben noticed something unusual. Inside the mid range horn was a medium sized huntsman. Well, I am rather afraid of spiders, so of course I jumped back with a fright, not wanting to be anywhere near the bloody thing. We then found out that I had no fly spray to kill the spider. Ben thought of the great idea of grabbing a stick and flicking it out onto the ground. I agreed, but also said that Ben might have to step on it quick. It turns out that Ben is afraid of spiders but not as much as I, and that he could poke it with a stick but not step on it. What was the first thing the huntsman did when it landed on the ground, well, it got scared so it decided to hide. It went straight into the ventilation ports of the speaker didn’t it. I thought “that’s it, it’s not going in my car, that bloody huntsman will be running round in my car and I can’t have that”. So I rang Rob and said that I would be bringing different speakers. Rob wouldn’t have any of that, and just told me to cover the ports. I thought stuff that, and started thinking of ways to get it to Jay’s house. In the end I got Ben to move the speakers on to the trailer (that’s right, I couldn’t even carry the speakers, as I feared that the spider would come out and run all over me.), however Ben also asked me to watch the front of the speaker in case the spider came out and did the exact thing I was afraid of. Finally we got the speakers to Jay’s house via trailer and my parents car. We never did see the spider again, but I think it might of had a heart attack or something because the amount of bass that we pumped through those speakers was enormous.

After over 2 months of rehearsal and a day of setup, we played for half an hour and now it’s over. Funny how that works, hey? It went pretty well, even if the crowd wasn’t quite what we had expected (more oldies than expected, hah). Our Doors cover went down well and we were even requested to play it again once our set had finished.
The boys played extremely well, having watched back the video though I’m a bit disappointed with my singing. I pushed out too hard in the first few songs, which resulted in me breaking a few notes in the last half of the set and there’s definitely a few flat notes in there too.
Oh well, we’re always most critical of ourselves, I’ll just have to keep up the practise.
Now that THE GIG is over, we’ll be going back to writing new songs, which will be a nice change. I don’t think we’ll try to organise any more live performances this year, we’ll wait until we’ve got a larger set of songs to choose from. This whole experience was great though, and now that we’ve got our first performance done, the next ones will be a lot easier.
Here are a bunch of photos from the day, video and sound are being edited and will be up soon.

Hi All, Rob here. Last night we performed our gig at Jay’s brother’s 25th birthday party. Despite taking near 10 hours to setup and some minor technical issues the gig went very well. It was all captured on camera and will be available for viewing along with a complete sound mix when we’re done putting it all together. Until then keep rockin’ !!!. My album of choice this month is ‘Shot to Hell’ by Black Label Society.

Yet another late post, but at least it’s still weekly.
The last practise session before the gig… we thought we had a lot more time but it snuck up on us. That’s alright because we kick ass. The set is sounding awesome and I can’t wait to play the gig tomorrow. Ben having warmed up his throat and vocal chords with scales, didn’t go to the aforementioned awfulness of pushing too hard. We played the set all the way through about 1-2 times before lunch and then another 2-3 after. In between set playing we just relaxed and chatted about the next song. In a rather bold move we decided to stop playing the set as too much practise and we’d probably go insane, and instead started writing the music for the new track based on subject matter very important to Jay. Jay already had the drums and lyrics worked out for the intro and first verse. Rob and I just started mucking around and somehow ended on a cool riff, which is most likely going to be put into the bridge. After spending about an hour on the intro, which sorta went nowhere, we focused on the first verse and were able to get a sound that we were all happy with. Ben’s vocals in the song are already sounding very moving and powerful, and that’s only the first sing through. All in all I can’t wait until we are able to work on it some more. But we have the gig tomorrow.
We are going to spend a fair chunk of the day just setting up and moving stuff around so we get the best sound. We’ll probably play through the set 2 times or so just to be sure it sounds cool. Then it’s relaxing time, the guys will probably go get their wives (if they haven’t done so already), and then I don’t know what we’ll do until Kynan’s party. The gig will be recorded in some way, so it might make it on to the web site in one way or another, you just never know. For those of you blessed enough to see Kurodust live tomorrow night, we start at 10 and prepare to rock, cos we are going to “rock your socks off”.

Looks like none of the other guys are going to take the initiative, so here’s our weekly update post!
Firstly I’d like to apologise to the band members, their wives/fiancees, the neighbours and any cars passing by Jay’s house last Saturday. I didn’t warm my voice up and pushed too hard, and by the end of the session I was sounding pretty awful. I’ve learnt my lesson though and I’ve been doing my scales all week, so tomorrow I will sound a LOT better.
The gig is next weekend! We were hoping to get some t-shirts made for our groupies (read: significant others) but I think we’ve run out of time. Anybody know of any good places that will do a small run of white on black t-shirts for cheap?
We also need to finalise our video and photography teams, I’m hoping my sister can do some photos but I haven’t got a firm answer from her yet. Whatever happens, I will make sure we get some decent footage and some good photos out of the night. It will be a while before we have another gig, so I want to make the most of it!
The set is tightening up nicely, our Initialise tracks are near perfect and the other three are getting there as well. We found a backup guitar for Rob in case the capo isn’t working out (that’s how it’s spelt by the way, Trev…) and the PA is holding up well so we’ll be good and ready on the night.
Rock on!

Howdy peoples,
Sorry for the late post this week, all of Kurodust has been pretty busy lately preparing for the gig. Anywho, after two weeks of having to play with my practise bass (the SX bass that you could barely see in one of the latest pics on the site), I have finally got my ESP LTD B-154 back from the repair shop. Even though it was bought new sometimes you get bad wiring, but it is all up and running and kicking ass, even if I do say so myself. Props go to my fiancee for picking up the bass from billy hyde, because without her I’d be playing the SX still (or I woulda had to go down and pick it up myself. I’m too lazy for that so…)
As we all were invited to a wedding on Saturday (no, we didn’t get invited to play
We would have liked to but I was part of the bridal party and we weren’t asked) we had the usual band practise on Sunday. The first run through was pretty much the best that we have played yet, which is great because we are going to have no real warm up time on the night of the gig. After the lunch break, we continued playing the set and tweaking Ben’s PA amp. As there is going to be a retune in the middle of the set, Rob decided that because he would take to long to retune he will play the Initialise tracks with a karpo (or however you spell it). Jay played brilliantly like usual, Ben was hitting all the notes seemingly easier than normal, Rob was flawless and I was solid.
Rockin out at the altar of metal, within the metal church of metal.
